Jimmy Bales has an ex-girlfriend he can't get over and a job where he's not respected. After a freak accident that causes his voice to naturally synthesize, he becomes a freak and an outcast. But with help from his outgoing roommate Steve and Liz, Steve's younger sister, Jimmy discovers the benefits of his synthesized life.
