Max, middle aged and African American, a part time writer who has recently become unemployed, takes refuge in Prospect Park where he distracts himself by feeding pigeons and idling on a bench. He becomes drawn to one of the parks occupants, Pierre, a Puerto Rican Vietnam Vet. During the encounter, Max comes to realize that whatever his 'problems ' are, he is not alone in having to grapple with the world.
