Iphigenia (2011)

Anna-Lena Laurin's orchestral work, Iphigenia, commissioned by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, had its world premiere together with globally renowned artists: Anders Bergcrantz, Richie Beirach, and Thomas Sondergard. Iphigenia integrates jazz soloists in a way that has not been heard before: It is written music for full symphony orchestra and improvising soloists. In this film you will hear the world premiere of Iphigenia, and follow the procedure of creating this project. The film team used traditional and abstract cinematography as well as archival footage to illustrate the unique music and the contrasting parts of an artistic journey.
