Joel is a young man, whose life took on a sudden sense of urgency, when he was diagnosed with blood cancer. Now, having made his way to America with the intent of keeping himself alive, Joel comes to realize the grim reality of life in America and the even greater struggle of trying to survive within it. From being imprisoned for illegal re-entry to not being able to find work, Joel has faced and continues to face many obstacles that other undocumented immigrants come across and must find ways to overcome.
