It's summer in suburbia. One night, as he's stargazing alone in the neighborhood park, thirteen year old eccentric Robbie McAlister gets abducted by an alien from outer space. Having no friends to speak of, it's the coolest thing that's ever happened to Robbie on a Saturday night. His parents think he's just making it up. He's got no evidence, no friends, and nothing else worth doing. Robbie sets off back to the park to find a way back to outer space, and that's when he runs into fellow weirdo Gwen Silverman, who saw the whole thing, and wants in on the next spaceship departing Earth.
